Manufacturing Panel (led by GMIC President Scott Cooper)

Scott Cooper, PhD Saturday, September 30, 2023 - 3:15 PM - 5:00 PM Panel Discusssion

Panel Moderator: Scott Cooper

Coming out of new relationships built during the International Year of Glass, we are excited to bring the Glass Manufacturers Panel back to our conference program. This is a unique opportunity to give our manufacturers a platform to speak directly to all of us at once. Glass Manufacturers face unique challenges within both our greater glass community and the glass industry. As legacy companies face increasing costs and retool aging equipment, let’s explore how we can support sustainability and workforce development across the community.

Scott Cooper, President of GMIC, an internationally recognized glass scientist himself, and USA Technical Director for Celsian Glass will be moderating this year’s panel discussion which includes representatives from nearly all of the art glass manufacturing companies in our community!

Panel members:

  • Kokomo Opalescent Glass Co; Jeff Shaw
  • Glashuette Lamberts Waldsassen GmbH; Rainer Schmitt
  • S.A. Bendheim; Robert Jayson
  • Paul Wissmach Glass Co.; Jason Wilburn & Annabelle Javier

THE ROBIN BRETT MOSAIC SCHOLARSHIP was created to assist emerging and established mosaic artists in their professional development by funding an educational opportunity pivotal to the advancement of their careers. This award is meant to foster the creative development of artists serious about expanding their knowledge of mosaic art. The Robin Brett Mosaic Scholarship reflects the goals of the Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA), whose mission is to educate, inspire, and promote excellence in mosaic art.

In this session series, we will hear from recent recipients of the Scholarship Report on their experiences.
