Laura Buchner received her Master of Science in Historic Preservation from Columbia University. She is a senior conservator and project manager at Building Conservation Associates, Inc. in New York City, where she has been involved with preservation efforts at numerous projects, including the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, St. Patrick's Cathedral, and the New York Hall of Science. In 2018, she was awarded the James Marston Fitch Mid-Career Fellowship to pursue research related to the fabrication, deterioration, and conservation of dalle de verre by Gabriel Loire. She is currently writing a book about the history and preservation issues associated with dalle de verre, based on that study and with the support of the 2022 FAIC Samuel H. Kress Conservation Publication Fellowship. Laura is a Fellow of The Corning Museum of Glass.
