Painting on Glass with Flora Jamieson of The Round Window 

Join stained-glass artist Flora Jamieson for a 3-day workshop at Feral Studio, where participants will learn to paint their own stained-glass botanical design, using traditional kiln-fired glass painting techniques. In this immersive course, Flora will guide you through the historic process of applying trace lines and shading to create your design on glass, before adding colour with vitreous enamels and silver stain.

Perfect for beginners or those wishing to improve their glass painting skills, this workshop offers a rare chance to explore the art of hand-painted stained glass under the expert guidance of one of the UK’s leading glass painters.
All materials and equipment supplied. Participants should bring an apron to wear to protect their clothes.

Meet the Instructor | Flora Jamieson

Flora Jamieson is a stained-glass artist based in Dorset, England with over 25 years experience of creating both traditional and contemporary work for clients across the UK and worldwide.  Her work is commissioned by private individuals, architects and interior designers, and projects range from large-scale installations to smaller autonomous panels celebrating significant moments.
She is a member of the BSMGP (British Society of Master Glass Painters), the Crafts Council and Heritage Crafts, and she was selected as a Master Artisan for the Homo Faber Guide (a directory of exceptional craftsmanship in Europe, developed by The Michelangelo Foundation).
Her work has been featured in numerous press publications, including The Financial Times, Elle Decoration and Country Living, and she teaches stained glass both in-person and through her popular online course with over 6,000 students.

Presentation: Pricing Stained Glass Work with Ted Ellison

Pricing leaded glass commissions accurately is one of the most practical skills a working studio can develop — and one of the least taught. This one-hour talk covers the fundamentals: how to track time so your estimates reflect actual labor, how to assess materials and design scope quickly and consistently, and how to present your pricing in a way that holds up under scrutiny.
The goal isn't a formula. It's a methodology you can adapt to your own work and refine over time.

Theodore Ellison studied art and apprenticed in a glass studio before starting his leaded glass and mosaic business in 1998.  Honoring the artistic integrity of the Arts & Crafts tradition, he’s created original designs for homes all over the country. His work has appeared in Fine Homebuilding, Old House Interiors, Style 1900 and Old House Journal. He’s written on the history of glass for American Bungalow and presented on the history of mosaic at the National Arts & Crafts Conference in Asheville and the Pasadena Heritage Craftsman Weekend.

Fundamentals of Traditional Glass Painting and Silver Stain with Indre McCraw-Belaris

Meet the Instructor | Indre McCraw-Belaris

Indre has been a glass painter and designer for over twenty years. Indre graduated with a BFA in Illustration and Art Education in 1994 from Parsons School of Design. In 1996, after working as a textile designer in NYC’s fashion district, she became the third apprentice and Kress Foundation fellow of the St Ann’s stained glass conservation program where she had first been introduced to the field as an intern in 1993. While training in conservation techniques, it became clear that her interest and aptitude were specifically geared towards stained glass replication painting. Indre has replicated work for the Stanford White Cottage in Montauk; The Thomas Edison House in New Jersey; and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, most notably for the Langon Chapel at the Cloisters. Her original painting and design work can be seen at Princeton University’s Ivy Club, Yale University, and at Temple Beth Or in Maple Glen, PA.

Workshop: Introduction to Using Lead Came to Create Your Windows

This was a beginners class to migrate experienced copper foil proficient artists to using lead came. Class focused on creating new windows and repair existing windows made with lead came. This workshop advanced the skills of stained glass artists and encourage professional development of artists.

Meet the Instructors: David Bleckman & Edgar Carchi

J & R Lamb Studios is the oldest continually operated stained glass studio in America. Founded in 1857, J & R Lamb Studios has been led by two families for over five generations. David Bleckman and his wife Kathryn Bleckman, continue the tradition of family ownership after the passing of David’s mother and artist, Donna Samick.

David and Kathryn have been involved with the studio since 2000, and David has been working full-time at the studio as Chief Financial Officer, estimator, restoration craftsman, and artist since 2016. David also has his MBA in Finance and had a career in banking prior to supporting the family studio full time.

Edgar Carchi who is a master craftsman with 18 years’ experience and a Lamb employee for 13 years. He has experience as a glazier, in metalwork, mosaics, and fusing.

Meet The Instructors:

Tessa Wollard is a master stained glass painter with 5 years' experience. Her passion for creating representational artwork has matured as she has practiced and fallen in love with the medium of painted stained glass. She received her BFA from Hillsdale College in 1996 and since then has worked in oils, graphite, and figurative sculpture. 

Yana Reyna is a master stained glass painter for Stanton Studios, in Waco, Texas. She has a BFA in Illustration from George Fox University. For the last 3 years she has worked on over 30 painted windows, working through the design, management, and painting process of these projects.

Fusing Techniques for Creating Representational Imagery in Leaded Glass and Art Glass Windows

Glass fusing as an art form is in its infancy. Because techniques and processes are evolving rapidly, it is an exciting time to experiment. Whether you have previous experience fusing glass or are just interested in trying new media in your work, learn ways to bring this dynamic artform to your leaded glass windows. This immersive hands-on workshop focuses on creative fusing techniques to produce glass that closely represents any image.  

Meet The Instructor:

Leslie Lenrow Shrage has a background in fine art and earned a degree in painting  at Wright State University. Ten years ago, she began her stained glass journey by taking classes in leading and copper foil. Classes in fused glass followed and her passion for this medium took shape. Leslie has been one of the key people growing fused glass production at Stanton Studios. She has helped create six fused and leaded glass windows for George Fox University and is collaborating on the creation of fused glass windows for the GFU library.

Meet The Instructor:

Maria Sheets was recently contracted by art icon Judy Chicago for her glass painting expertise. Sheets is senior conservator of Foothills Art Conservation and a master glass designer, painter and fabricator located in the mountains of Evergreen Colorado. She was Chief Conservator of a fire recovery project with the Museum of Biblical Art, Dallas from 2005-2018.   A partial list of clients include the Ross Perot Collection, George Bush Family, Gerald Ford, Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center, and the Ann and Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Samurai Collection(full CV and list of glass installations on request).  She served  as President of the Conservators Private Practice Group of the American Institute for Conservation and holds a Professional Associates status. Presentation Session with Kathy Barnard

Kathy Barnard brings decades of experience in glass, mastering how it holds and reflects light. Her work ranges from delicate etched pieces to large-scale architectural panels, specializing in sculptural and deep-carved glass. In this session, Kathy shared insights from her recent project at St. Jude’s and discussed how exploring new techniques can help you uncover your own artistic style.
