"The spirit and energy of living things has always intrigued me and continues to be at the very core of my art. Inspired by the temperament of my Asian background, I constantly strive to capture grace, movement and dimension of life in a simple, yet powerful way. Facets of nature are the soul of my art. Lyrical abstractions of nature come to life through the use of line, color, texture, balance, light and the silent beauty of glass."
As a first generation American born Chinese, Nancy's early art influences came from her mother’s teachings of needle arts and crafts, intensive workshops with master artists, attending glass conferences as well as the Allofus Workshop, SUNY’s Empire State College, Rochester Institute of Technology, where she had the good fortune to meet many talented artists. For over 42 years, through her studio Gong Glass Works, she has combined traditional glass techniques with contemporary techniques sought and embraced exciting opportunities to create architectural art glass and independent work representing her time. Nancy's light and airy free-style contemporary work float between stylized representational to soft abstract designs.

A permanent exterior feature within the campus wide educational green infrastructure exhibit for young and not so young. The glass design maps out the Genesee River Watershed to show where the water comes from and where it goes. The project highlights storm water management practices. The pavilion with a butterfly shaped roof top garden diverts water to the tilted glass artwork which then diverts water to the rain garden.
