Eligibility:  Open to all SGAA Affiliates and Members in good standing.

  • 1st Place: $500 cash, EvenHeat Hot Shot Kiln, Free Registration to SGAA 2011 Syracuse Conference, 50lb box of lead from DHD Metals, 25lbs of solder from MAYCO Industries, Kokomo $275 gift certificate, Reusche, $275 gift certificate, S.A. Bendheim $300 gift certificate.
  • 2nd Place: $250 cash, 50lb box of lead from DHD Metals, 15lbs of solder from MAYCO Industries, Kokomo $150 gift certificate, Reusche, $150 gift certificate, S.A. Bendheim $125 gift certificate.
  • 3rd Place: $125 cash, 50lb box of lead from DHD Metals, 10lbs of solder from MAYCO Industries, Kokomo $75 gift certificate, Reusche, $75 gift certificate, S.A. Bendheim $75 gift certificate.

Theme: Completely open! We are looking for a very wide variety of art. This will be in an extremely public venue. We want to exhibit the wide variety of art that stained and decorative art glass can represent.

General Information:  Exhibition space will be in the Hyatt Regency Crown Center Hotel. The exhibition will be mounted on the West Terrace Walkway on the Mezzanine level. The four story windows will provide excellent natural light. A specifically designed system will be in place to show entered pieces. The exhibit will be on display for the 2010 SGAA Summer Conference and will be open and heavily publicized to the public. Exhibition winners will be featured in The Stained Glass Quarterly and on the SGAA website.

Media: Any use of actual art glass (overlay will not be accepted) in traditional, painted, enameled, beveled, sandblasted, fused, laminated or new technique is acceptable as long as it is within the size limitations

Size Limitations: Maximum size for any panel is 4 square feet with 24″ as a maximum for any one side. 3D designs will be allowed but the parameters must still be within the 2′x2′x2′ limits. Weight limit of 30 (thirty) lbs. Larger pieces will not be accepted.

Exhibition Limitation: Space only for (48) panels and (12) 3D entries. Entries accepted on “first come” basis until slots are filled.

Cash Prizes: 1st Place – $500, 2nd Place – $250, 3rd Place $125.

Product Prizes: 1st Place will include an Even Heat Hot Shot Kiln and free registration to the SGAA 2011 Summer Conference in Syracuse. Other product prizes will be awarded to all levels including gift certificates from Bendheim, DHD Metals, Gemini Saw Company, Kokomo Opalescent Glass, MAYCO Industries and Reusche of T.W.S. More to be added as donations are made available for the Exhibition. (Gift certificates may not be used towards prior account balances with the awarding company).

Promotion: Winning entries will be heavily promoted in The Stained Glass Quarterly and on the Association website.

Sales: Sales will be encouraged! With permission of the artist, panels will be offered for sale with 35% to be retained by the Stained Glass School. Artist may elect to donate all proceeds. Retained proceeds will be for the benefit of the SGS Building Fund.

Fees: The entry fee is $35; one entry of original work per artist. The cost of shipping and insurance to and from the exhibition is the responsibility of the artist. Once registered, the artist will receive shipping and packing instructions. Entry fee may be paid by check, money order, or by Visa/MasterCard or American Express.

Deadlines: Entries will be accepted through May 15, 2010.

Ship to: SGAA Headquarters, 9313 E. 63rd Street, Raytown, MO  64133. Panels should be received by June 15, 2010. Panels may be hand carried into the hotel for hanging until 1pm, Monday June 28, 2010. Any panels shipped to the hotel may be charged a hotel handling fee and will be the responsibility of the artist. The greatest care will be taken in the handling and protection of all pieces. However, the SGAA, its agents or representatives, will not be responsible or liable for any damage due to shipping, handling, loss or theft.

Return Shipping: Cost of return shipping is the cost of the artist. Payment and shipping information must be included with the entry or it will become the property of the SGAA and sold to raise funds for the Stained Glass School Building Fund.

Judging: The Exhibition entries will be judged by popular vote by those registered and attending the conference. Artists’ names will not be display with the panels until voting is completed. This will allow for impartial judging.

Awards: Winners will be announced at the Second General Business Meeting and presented at the Awards Banquet.
