The Stained Glass Association of America is proud to present an exhibition of panels celebrating the American glass heritage of Kokomo Opalescent Glass.

Eligibility:  Open to all stained glass artisans. You do not need to be a Member or Affiliate of the SGAA to enter.

Description: To celebrate Kokomo’s anniversary, all glass products used in the panels are required to be manufactured by Kokomo Opalescent Glass. KOG glass products may be purchased online at www.kog.com. Exhibition participants will receive a one-time-only 50% discount on all glass products purchased for their panels. Discount does not apply to shipping. Participants will receive purchasing code and instructions once the Entry Fee has been received. Any panel using glass products other than those manufactured by KOG will be disqualified.

Theme: OPEN! Judges will be looking for experimentation, pushing the properties of the glass and the imagination.

Construction: The panel construction may be any method, including lead, copper foil, and lamination. Any surface treatment may be used e.g., stained glass paints, enamels, etching, etc. (Stained Glass Overlay will not be accepted.) Glass manipulation such as fusing will also be allowed.

Size Limitations: The maximum size for any panel is 4 square feet, with 24″ as a maximum for any one side. Weight limit of 30 (thirty) lbs. Larger pieces will not be accepted.

Exhibition Location: Exhibition will be mounted in the lobby windows of the Embassy Suites Hotel in downtown Indianapolis during the SGAA Annual Summer Conference on June 10-11. Exhibition will have very public viewing from both interior and exterior of the hotel.

Exhibition Winners: First, Second, and Third Place winners will be put on display at Kokomo Opalescent Glass, including the artists’ names, where panels will again be open to a variety of public viewings for one year.

Exhibition Limitation: Space only for 40 panels. Entries accepted on first-come basis until slots are filled.

Cash Prizes: First Place: $750, Second Place: $500, Third Place: $250. Product Prizes as of 10/10/12: Evenheat Kiln, MAYCO Solder and Lead, Reusché Painting Kits, SGAA 2014 Conference Registration. Product prizes will be added as they become available.

Promotion: Winning entries will be promoted in The Stained Glass Quarterly, on the SGAA website, and on the Kokomo website. First-place winner will be featured in an ad for Kokomo Opalescent Glass in the Fall 2013 issue of The Stained Glass Quarterly.

Sales: The three winning entries will be placed on display at Kokomo for one year. The panels will then be auctioned at the SGAA 2014 Summer Conference to raise funds for SGAA Projects and the Stained Glass School.

Fees: Entry fee is $60; one entry of original work is allowed per artist. Deadlines: Entries will be accepted through May 1, 2013.

Shipping: Cost of shipping and insurance to and from the exhibition is the responsibility of the artist. Once registered, the artist will receive shipping and packing instructions.

Return Shipping: Cost of return shipping is the responsibility of the artist. Payment and shipping information must be included with the entry, or it cannot be returned. Entries may be picked up by the artist after the SGAA Awards Banquet.

Judging: The Exhibition entries will be judged by Kokomo Opalescent Glass CEO John O’Donnell and President Richard Elliott; SGAA President Jerome Durr; Stained Glass School Director Robert Markert; and Rolf Achilles, Curator, Smith Stained Glass Museum in Chicago.

Awards: Winners will be announced at the Second General Business Meeting and prizes presented at the Awards Banquet.
